Interogated for wanting current account
« on: Aug 13, 2009, 01:25:12 PM »
I applied for a current account and found it extremely hard going. They asked a whole load of questions and I was in there for almost an hour. They also ran a credit check even though I didn't want an overdraft or loan. I was told this was to avoid money laundering??!

Has anyone ecountered this kind of nonsense?

Hi Weddings,

Did you ask for a switch card with this account ? if so then the bank will go on your credit reports to decide whether or not to give you the account.

Any bank should give you a straight forward bank account with no O/D, Loan, or switch card a bank account to set uop standing orders and direct debits and lift your money from the hole in the wall.

Any problesm message me on msn address is on  my profile

I went to Barclay straight from the bankruptcy court. I told them upfront. I was given a account with no questions asked. No overdraft or credit facility but free internet banking, telephone banking and a VISA debit card. Easypeasy.

Did you end up getting you're current account or did they end up saying no?

They said yes. I was in and out in under 15 minutes.
