thinking of going bankrupt as going to cab on the 23rd. Is it right that if your income is solely from benefits that you wont have to pay anything towards the debt . getting confused between a dro and bankruptcy  as got hmrc debt.

If your income is derived solely from benefits you will not be expected to pay anything towards the debt. It doesn't matter if you have HMRC debt, this may be included. As to whether a DRO or bankruptcy is more suitable, this will come down to your debt level. If it is more than £15,000, you will have to go the bankruptcy route.
