Egg and dca
« on: Sep 13, 2013, 11:24:41 AM »
I had egg credit card in 2002 and built up balance of over 3k.  I have made no payments for well over 6 years or made any acknowledgement of debt.

I have moved address twice since 2002 and only recently lowell and red (same company) have started chasing me with letters at current address.

The letter says egg are the original company name but I believe barclays have this now and would my debt not be statute barred?

I am assuming must be statute barred as in the last 6 months I have got current account car loan and mobile contract which I would not have got with previous credit rating

What in reality can they do?

Hi Kba73

If you have made no payments towards this debt or acknowledged it for the past 6 years then it is almost certainly statute barred. Even if the original creditor had applied for a CCJ against you this would also have been statute barred 6 years from the date it was issued. As such I would think that the new owner of the debt has no legal grounds to chase for payment.
